I’ve had plenty of Cuban cigars and honestly. The only reason people give a fuck is because they are “Illegal”. of course you can go to cuba and buy some and bring them home legally since 2014. But yeah there’s nothing that great about them other than that mystic. Not to say I haven’t had a good cuban, sure I have. But I enjoy a Honduras or Nicaraguan, or even a domestic just as much. It’s like are french wines better than California, or new york, south american, or Australian wine? EH depends. each has it’s own unique flavor profile that the average consumer wont even pick up on honestly. But damn you tell them it’s expensive or forbidden fruit; well shit those will be the ones they like the most.

I’ve only had a couple Cubans in my life, but they were the best cigars I’ve smoked, particularly the Partagas Serie D No. 5. However, as you suggest, one’s opinion may well be colored by the mystique, especially if you are only a casual smoker. Up until I quit, I was smoking Punch London Club maduros daily for many years ( too many years). Excellent smoke from Honduras.
